As You Have Received Christ Jesus: Colossians 2:6-7

    Living in Christ: Colossians 2:6-7

Colossians 2:6-7 is a powerful passage that encourages believers to walk in Christ, rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith. Let’s dive into these verses and explore their significance in our daily lives.

Verse 6: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him.”

This verse serves as a reminder to believers that receiving Christ Jesus as Lord is just the beginning of our journey with Him. It’s not enough to simply acknowledge Him; we are called to live our lives in Him.

Living in Christ means surrendering our will to His, aligning our thoughts and actions with His teachings, and actively seeking to grow in our relationship with Him. It’s an ongoing process that requires intentionality and a deep desire to follow Him wholeheartedly.

When we live our lives in Christ, we are transformed from the inside out. Our attitudes, behaviors, and priorities begin to reflect His love, grace, and truth. We become more like Him, and our lives bear witness to His work in us.

So, how can we practically live our lives in Christ? It starts with daily surrender, spending time in prayer and studying His Word, seeking His guidance in all areas of our lives, and being obedient to His commands. As we do these things, we will experience His presence, guidance, and peace.

Verse 7: “Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

This verse paints a beautiful picture of what it means to be rooted and built up in Christ. Just as a tree draws its nourishment from its roots, we are called to draw our spiritual nourishment from our deep connection with Christ.

Being rooted in Christ means being firmly grounded in our faith, having a strong foundation in His teachings, and staying connected to Him through prayer and fellowship with other believers. It’s about finding our identity and security in Him, rather than in the things of this world.

When we are rooted in Christ, we are also built up in Him. This speaks of growth and maturity in our faith. Just as a building is constructed brick by brick, our faith is built up as we continue to seek Him, learn from Him, and allow Him to shape us into His likeness.

As we are rooted and built up in Him, we are strengthened in the faith. Our trust in God deepens, our understanding of His love and grace expands, and our confidence in His promises grows. We become more steadfast in our beliefs and better equipped to face the challenges and trials of life.

Lastly, being rooted and built up in Christ leads to an overflow of thankfulness. When we truly grasp the depth of God’s love for us and the blessings we have received through Christ, gratitude naturally wells up within us. We can’t help but overflow with thankfulness for all that He has done and continues to do in our lives.

Colossians 2:6-7 serves as a gentle reminder for us to live in Christ, rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith. As we surrender our lives to Him, seek Him daily, and allow His Word to transform us, we will experience the abundant life He has promised.

Let us embrace the call to live in Christ and be intentional about growing in our relationship with Him. May we be rooted in Him, built up in Him, and strengthened in our faith, overflowing with thankfulness for all that He has done and continues to do in our lives.
