About Angels

Not long ago, while I was in prayer and spending quiet time with God, He unveiled something to me that utterly blew me away.

Hold onto your seat as I share this incredible revelation with you.

Romans 8:2 urges us not to conform to the patterns of this world but to undergo a profound transformation by renewing our minds.

Get ready to experience a renewal of your mind and a complete transformation in your life through this revelation.

It’s something you may be familiar with, something you’ve likely encountered before, but perhaps haven’t fully grasped yet!

    About Angels

    Cupid angel

We are brought up with images of angels being these harmless little figures that are similar to the cupid depicted above. Occasionally we would also get the image of an angel playing a harp with his wings on his back and a halo around his head.

While some of this may be true, the Bible also outlines something completely different about angels.

    Different Types of Angels

When you start studying into angels you soon discover that angels appear in many different forms with many different functions. There is a lot of information found online about angels and their names but in this message to you I am keeping 100% in line with scripture and what is found in the bible.

    Angels are Messengers of God

I am sure you know Angels are often the messengers of God. God sends his angels to deliver direct messages to the earth.

In many of the times that God uses Angels to deliver messages, you will notice that the angels have to tell the people “Do not be afraid”. This means that just their appearance is something that stirs up fear.

    Mathew 28: 2 to 4
” And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.”

    Luke 1:30
Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.”

    Luke 2:9
And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.

From the passages above, it is evident that these Messenger Angels were imposing figures, capable of instilling fear in those who encountered or beheld them.

    Angels May Appear as Strangers

    Hebrews 13:2
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

In the scripture above we are warned that angels may appear to us in the form of ordinary people and yet we also see that they are perhaps not quite so ordinary.

    Genesis 18:2
So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground,

    Genesis 19:1
Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground.

In both of the above instances, the angels appeared as ordinary men but they were immediately recognized as being more than just people and hence Abraham and Lot immediately bowed themselves before the angels.

    The Power of Angels

You have already read above (Mathew 28: 2-4) how the angel had a countenance like lightning and struck absolute fear into the guards.

Now form this picture in your mind.

    The power of angels

The angel stretched out his hand over Jerusalem

    2 Samuel 24:15-16

And when the angel stretched out His hand over Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord relented from the destruction, and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “It is enough; now restrain your hand.”

The sheer might possessed by the Angel would have been sufficient to obliterate the great city of Jerusalem with a mere extension of his hand.

The angel slaughtered 185000 men in one night!

    2 Kings 19:35

And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.

One Angel, One Night, One hundred and eighty five thousand dead!!!

The angel destroyed 185 000 men

The angel cut down an entire army

    2 Chronicles 32:21

Then the Lord sent an angel who cut down every mighty man of valor, leader, and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria.

One Angel – defeats and slaughters an entire army!

The above are just a few examples of just how mighty, fierce, and powerful angels are. They are not those cute little images that we have been taught to believe are our guardians.

    How many Angels are there?

You may be wondering just how many angels there taking into account that they are so mighty and powerful. There are literally millions!

Matthew 26:53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?

    A legion is 3000 to 6000 – 12 legion = +72 000 angels – what absolute power!

Genesis 28:12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

Describes a busy highway of angels.

    How does this affect me!

This is the part that absolutely blew me away.

Picture the angel with his hand stretched out with all power and authority – enough power to destroy the mighty Jerusalem. Then read:

    Psalm 91:11

For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.

Can you imagine all that power and might is there looking after you and protecting you?

Maybe the story about having a guardian angel looking over you is not just a story. Now imagine the confidence that you can walk in knowing that your guardian angel is not the cute little cupid but is the powerful, fearsome angel of the Lord.

    Guardian angel

    Psalm 34:7

The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.

I recall reading a book, many years ago, written by an ex-Satanical high priest who gave his life to Jesus.

He stated how they would go out in the spirit (astral travel) to torment the Christians but certain Christians had so great a faith that they were unable to come near due to the angels who guarded over and protected them.

Angel of the lord protects you

Now you can really understand the stories of guardian angels. Do you fear the Lord that He may give his Angels charge over you?

Angels were only in the Old Testament

If you believe that Angels were only for the Old Testament then you are wrong. Read the book of ACTS alone and see how often God used Angels in the New Testament

Lastly – In the final times, the reapers will be the angels.

Matthew 13:41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,

    Luke 12:8-9

“Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God. But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

    Conclusion

When you fully comprehend just how mighty the angel is who looks after and protects you, then you understand that you have the most powerful and feared bodyguard in the world. You can walk fearlessly knowing that your guardian angel has your back and will protect you.

    Amen.
